Asian Fixed Income
The Asian Fixed Income Team is structured to seek out Asian macro and credit opportunities and to capitalise on perceived market inefficiencies. In this context, the Asian FX and Rates Team are more top down in their approach.
The Team is experienced not only in fixed income but also in the region. We believe that it is important to have local knowledge when investing in the Asian region, not just experience in researching fixed income markets, in order to understand the nuances of particular countries, currencies, sectors and issuers.
Asian local currency and rates
Aberdeen's Asian currency and interest rates team is based in Singapore, and invests in the currencies and nascent local government bond markets of the most dynamic region in the world. Though these markets are currently smaller and less liquid than G7 markets, they are rich in opportunity. The markets also add considerable diversification benefits for fixed income investors.
Asian Credit
Aberdeen's Asian credit team is also based in Singapore, and invests mostly in US$ denominated assets of Asian sovereign and corporate borrowers. The team benefits from the insights of our Asian Equity team, who are one of the largest and most experienced investors in the region, managing over US$40bn of equity assets in Asia, making over 1200 company visits a year. The fixed income team invests in both investment grade and high yield issuers.
